Performance Evaluations Demo Video

Audience: Company-wide across Block, Inc.
Partners: HRBPs, People Leads, Manager Excellence Team
Timing: Q125

Tools: Figma, Adobe Premier Pro, Docebo (LMS)

Final Asset Link: Performance Evaluation Demo Video

Summary: I designed and developed an instructional demo video using Adobe Premiere Pro to introduce a new performance evaluation process at Block, Inc. Partnering closely with key stakeholders, I gathered feedback to refine the content and ensure clarity and relevance. To enhance the learner experience, I structured the video to not only demonstrate the mechanics of the process—such as executing Slack commands—but also to contextualize best practices through a real employee scenario. By leveraging video as the delivery format, I created a more engaging, sensory-rich learning experience compared to traditional text-based resources, making complex information more accessible and actionable.

// PROBLEM

As part of a company-wide initiative to transform our performance management approach, a new internal tool was developed to streamline performance evaluations through Slack commands and a centralized dashboard. While this tool improved efficiency, employees needed clear guidance on both the practical steps and the broader cultural shift in how performance evaluations were conducted. To support adoption, we needed to design a suite of enablement resources that made the new process accessible, engaging, and easy to follow.

// PROCESS

To ensure accuracy and alignment with business goals, I collaborated with key stakeholder groups—including HR Business Partners, Performance & Effectiveness, People Leadership, and Employee Experience—to script and refine learning materials. Recognizing the diverse learning preferences of our employee population, we decided on a multimodal approach, offering both text-based guides and a video demonstration. Video, in particular, provided an engaging and immersive experience that helped drive adoption. To make the content more relatable, I incorporated a real employee scenario into the video, illustrating best practices in action while guiding learners through the process steps.

// SOLUTION

Using Adobe Premiere Pro, I designed and developed an instructional demo video that introduced employees to the new performance evaluation process. The video successfully captured employee interest, with approximately 70% of employees viewing it and a majority completing a performance evaluation within a week. Post-launch surveys revealed a strong preference for video-based learning, highlighting the impact of this approach in making complex processes more engaging and actionable.
