Summary: Over the course of 2024, there was a major push for rethinking the way we manage performance across the company, with the intention of better retaining top talent and making it simpler to identify individual performance below expectations. The result was a large-scale change management campaign centered around a concept called, "Continuous Performance" wherein typical aspects of our annual review (feedback, evaluation, promotion, etc.) went from being a yearly event, to something that happens continually throughout the year. With these updated processes, including promotions, we ran a multifaceted enablement campaign to educate employees on what had changed, and how to navigate the new approach.

// PROBLEM
Top leaders across our business had identified a need for our performance management processes to be less rigid and instead something more fluid that can happen at any time of the year. This meant moving away from a large scale "bi-annual event" to a nomination form that is open all the time. With that major change, we needed to first redefine the process and then execute on an enablement campaign to educate the masses how things would work moving forward.
// PROCESS
Working closely with the Program Manager for Promotions, we learned as much as we could about the new process vs. the old. This allowed us to begin the process of identifying primary learning objectives. Since we knew that most of these changes were most revenant to managers, we focused on that audience. Speaking with several HRBPs, and managers, we also began brainstorming potential delivery methods that would work best for this specific audience.
// SOLUTION
I ended up creating a collection of Block-branded enablement materials including VILT (slide design), process guides (using Adobe InDesign), and more. All of these assets contributed to an enablement campaign which offered our employees various options for how they wished to consume the content - live VILT, on-demand guides, coaching sessions, resource pages, etc.
In addition, we also launched a new achievement badge in our company intranet. Anyone who earns a promotion would then have the "promotion" badge featured on their profile page. My process in designing this badge involved carefully analyzing the existing badge system, and creating options that seamlessly worked into that system. Below you can view several existing badges as well as several of the initial concepts that I created.
